身高193公分的庫里克，曾是路易維爾大學主將，雖然在NBA選秀落選，在水準僅次於NBA的西班牙聯賽站穩腳步，連續3季平均得分超過雙位數。

但就在生涯第4年開季，歐冠聯賽寫下單場18分佳績之後，突然傳來噩耗。他腦中長了一顆腫瘤，而且情況危急，隔天馬上被推進開刀房。第1次手術雖然取出腫瘤，但腦壓過高，又動了第2次、第3次刀。庫里克說：「我身上插滿管子，我爸是腦外科醫生，他說我瞳孔放大，在醫學認定，我已經死了。」

手術後5個月他奇蹟似的回到賽場。今年獲得太陽隊夏季聯賽邀請，昨天單場轟進15分，他說：「我不會讓別人同情我，我就只有一個信念：不斷往上爬。」
